Are you ready to help build a Chicago that works for all of its residents? A Chicago where every child has a healthy start in a stable home? A Chicago where everyone has an affordable place to live? Join us on the build site as an individual volunteer, and let’s build it together.

Let’s Dig In

Individual volunteers have the opportunity to come volunteer with us once, twice or three hundred times! Every hand, every hour, every day makes a difference for our neighbors.

  • No construction experience is necessary. In fact, most of our volunteers are brand-new to the world of construction! Simply come ready to learn and Habitat construction staff will guide you from there.

  • Volunteer activities include any and everything it takes to build a home from start to finish. Potential volunteer work includes: framing, siding, painting, roofing, laying flooring, hanging doors or windows, trim work, finishing, landscaping, and cleaning. We mean it when we say it – every single task is critical for the success of our mission.

  • Opportunities are available 8:00am – 3:00pm every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday year-round (holidays excluded), and we ask that volunteers plan on staying for the entire day.

  • The minimum age to volunteer is 16 years old. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a chaperone over the age of 21.

  • We are currently at work in the West Pullman neighborhood.

Let’s Get Dirty

Individual spots are limited to ensure that every volunteer has a safe, rewarding day. All volunteers are required to sign up online in advance.

First time volunteering with us? We’re thrilled you’re here. Follow these instructions to create your volunteer account and register for a build day.

Let’s Maximize Our Impact

A $25 donation is suggested for individual volunteers to help cover the cost of tools and materials on your build day. You can make a gift when you register to volunteer or at any other time using this form
