Habitat for Humanity Chicago completes first Austin-based Women Build event, on track to raise $700,000

CHICAGO, IL – On twelve days between October 2-25, hundreds of Chicago women partnered with Habitat for Humanity Chicago to help construct three homes in Austin and are on track to raise $700,000 to help more women overcome the gendered barriers to becoming first-time homeowners. And the best part? The three buyers slated for the Lockwood homes are all women, and two of them—current best friends and coworkers—will be building on their own homes this Saturday, October 25.

Habitat Chicago’s Women Build exists to bring awareness to the gender inequality in the home purchasing process, as well as the benefits of homeownership—benefits which include better physical health, educational, and social outcomes for homeowners and their children.
