POSITION OPENING: CREW LEADER (AMERICORPS NATIONAL)
They build relationships with volunteers and partner families while instructing, coaching, and encouraging participation in the construction process. They also focus on our three on-site priorities: safety, productivity, and fun.
Who we are looking for
You are someone who loves helping others be successful, no matter how small the task – and have an ability to think through and explain needs in multiple steps. You are a talented communicator and enjoy being around many different types of people. You may already have some construction skills - but at the very least, you have a strong desire to learn the ins and outs of residential construction. Finally, weather doesn’t faze you – you’d rather be outside!
Key Responsibilities
Construction and Volunteer Management (80%)
Working on a team, prepare for and manage volunteer build days by leading small groups in task execution and following organization protocols.
Leadership and Teamwork (20%)
As a key Programs Team member, contribute to our organizational health through enthusiastic collaboration, leadership, and personal integrity.
Compensation
AmeriCorps members will receive a monthly living stipend, health plan benefits, workers' compensation, and loan deferral. Habitat Chicago provides an additional $250 stipend for food and transportation in the form of a CTA pass, gas gift card, or grocery gift card. Members receive an education award at the completion of their term of service (1,700 hours).
