These questions are a good way for you to start to understand the qualifications for Habitat Chicago’s homeownership program and assess if this program is a good fit for making your homeownership dreams a reality.
To be eligible for Habitat homeownership, applicants must meet three criteria:
1. Need for Housing
2. Ability to Pay
3. Willingness to Partner
Below is a self-assessment tool for you to get a better understanding of our program criteria. Please note, this is not an application. We do not ask for names, contact information or any other information that could identify you individually in this assessment; it is meant only for your own use and insight.
Once you have finished, we encourage you to register for the next Affordable Homeownership Information Session (see Events Page). Attendance at an information session is mandatory in order to submit an application for homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity Chicago is a nonprofit housing ministry affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We seek to eliminate substandard housing in Chicago and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build homes together in partnership with qualifying families.
